Chartway Partnerships Group, in collaboration with Moat Homes, has submitted a planning application to Swale Borough Council for the development of 36 new affordable homes in Eastchurch on the Isle of Sheppey.
The development proposal (planning application number 23/505678/FULL) places a strong emphasis on community, sustainability, open spaces and local architecture, incorporating a mix of 1- and 2-bedroom flats and 2- and 3- bedroom houses to blend with the existing context of Eastchurch.
Sustainability features heavily across the development, with integral design features of the scheme including sustainable drainage, PVs and Air Source Heat Pumps, together with allocated parking for all homes which include EV charging points.
To address climate change and enhance biodiversity, the landscape master plan focuses on creating diverse ecological habitats. Native species field hedges, wildflower and grassland areas, scrub zones, and sustainable urban drainage habitats contribute to the development’s commitment to environmental responsibility. In terms of biodiversity, the scheme is designed to meet and exceed the Government’s new nationally set 10% Biodiversity Net Gain target, through a careful combination of retaining existing site vegetation and integrating new native planting throughout.
